Andoid New Laws 2023

December 16, 2022

New law: in 2023, Android smartphones will change a lot

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China adopted a new law, according to which smartphones produced in the country must meet the new requirements. We are talking about pre-installed programs.

Now manufacturers must make sure that the user can remove all applications from his device. The ministry named the programs that are not included in this list:

  • System settings;
  • File managers;
  • Camera;
  • Browser;
  • Telephone;
  • Messages;
  • App Store.

All this the manufacturer has the right to make non-removable. The Chinese government believes that such measures will improve the user experience and allow companies to better compete in the software market. According to media reports, the law comes into force on January 1, 2023. Deadlines for the fulfillment of the requirements have not yet been established. It is only known that the requirements apply to iOS devices.

Recall that in mid-December, Xiaomi introduced the firmware MIUI 14. Its main feature was a smoother operation and a minimum of pre-installed applications. Perhaps Xiaomi already knew about the new conditions and prepared in advance. In the future, we are waiting for Android-devices on which dubious programs and games will not be downloaded. Only the most necessary and what the user downloaded will remain.
